Important notice
The Commissioner of Insurance has adopted, effective February 1, 2003, the International Residential Code (IRC), the International Building Code (IBC), and the Texas Revisions as the applicable building standards for structures to be considered as insurable property for windstorm and hail insurance coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA). The IRC/IBC and Texas Revisions will replace the current TWIA Building Code for Windstorm Resistant Construction and the Windstorm Resistant Construction Guide.
Effective February 1, 2003, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) will no longer sell the Building Code for Windstorm Resistant Construction and Windstorm Resistant Construction Guide, however, for transition purposes these documents may be used until May 31, 2003. The product evaluation reports and future updates will continue to be available on our website at www.tdi.texas.gov/wind/. Current subscribers of the code and product evaluation updates will continue to receive the updates until their renewal has expired.
