Lubbock insurance agent sentenced for scamming elderly clients
A former Lubbock insurance agent was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison and ordered to pay back $810,000 to his victims after a Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) investigation.

Nancy Carroll, the former owner of Millennium Title in Keller, was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $8.6 million after a Texas Department of Insurance investigation found she had stolen millions from her clients and investors.

Texas workers’ compensation costs down 63% since 2005
More Texas businesses are providing workers’ compensation insurance as the cost of coverage continues to decline. Premiums have fallen by 63 percent since 2005 as the Division of Workers’ Compensation worked to reduce costs and improve care through health care networks, a drug formulary, safer workplaces, and other reforms.

Former Houston escrow officer sentenced to prison in title scam
Sandra Flores will begin serving a six year prison term this week for insurance fraud after a Texas Department of Insurance investigation found she had stolen $1 million from real estate transactions. She was sentenced earlier this week by a Harris County judge.

The Division of Workers’ Compensation recognized Lauren Concrete for exemplary workplace safety programs and low rates of work-related injuries and illnesses at their Brenham, La Grange, and Waller locations. Workers’ Compensation Commissioner Ryan Brannan presented the company with the Lone Star Safety Program Award.
