You filed a complaint, now what?

Next steps

After we get all needed documents, we will:

  • Review your complaint.
  • Get information from the people or companies involved.
  • Send you a letter or email explaining the outcome.

How to send us documents

  1. Log into your Complaint Portal account.
  2. Scroll down to the Complaint Submission History table. In the same row as your Complaint ID, click on "Comments/Documents." (If your documents are larger than 25 MB, email them to ConsumerProtection@tdi.texas.gov.)
  3. Be sure to include your Complaint ID on documents you send us. You can find your ID in the email we sent you or in the Complaint Submission History table.

Tips

  • Make sure to save your password. We can’t reset it for you. You can reset it if you have Internet Explorer 11. On the portal login page, click on “Forgot password?”
  • We will work on your case, but sometimes we aren’t able to help. For example, we can’t:
    • Help with a case if a lawsuit has been filed.
    • Decide who caused an accident.
    • Decide damage or repair amounts or the value of vehicles.
    • Decide if a medical service or drug is needed. (Learn about appealing a decision with your health insurance company or asking for an external review.)
