National Electrical Safety Month and OSHA’s Electrical Roll-Up Initiative
May is National Electrical Safety Month, a great time to focus on preventing common electrical hazards in the workplace. Employers can use this opportunity to inspect equipment, reinforce safe work practices, and talk with workers about how to avoid shocks and burns.
OSHA’s Electrical Roll-Up Initiative supports these efforts by encouraging construction employers to inspect extension cords, power tool cords, and ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) for wear or damage. OSHA offers free resources, including a “5 Things to Know” poster, a ready-to-use toolbox talk, and a customizable, downloadable PowerPoint training presentation for quick safety discussions on site. DWC also offers additional free electrical safety publications and streaming videos to strengthen your program.
