Available courses

DWC offers online and in-person Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 and 30-hour safety courses, taught by OSHA-authorized trainers. Visit the safety training calendar for dates, times, and to register.

OSHA 10-hour construction courses

DWC offers low-cost OSHA 10-Hour Construction classes in English and Spanish in-person and online. Each course is delivered by authorized trainers and includes live instruction with interactive participation. This two-day training is designed to help employers and their employees understand the essentials of occupational safety and health in construction.

OSHA 10-hour general industry courses

DWC offers low-cost OSHA 10-Hour General Industry classes in English and Spanish in-person and online. The two-day in-person or three-day online course is presented by authorized instructors and designed to train employers and their employees in the essentials of occupational safety and health in general industry.

OSHA 30-hour construction courses

DWC offers low-cost OSHA 30-Hour Construction courses in person. The five-day course is presented by OSHA-authorized instructors who train employers and employees in the fundamentals of construction safety, including OSHA standards and requirements. The training also builds safety awareness to help identify and reduce job-site hazards and risks.

Meet the trainers

Raymond Provencio, CSHO, SHEP, CESCO, SSH

Manager of safety training and inspections for DWC, has more than 40 years of experience as an environmental safety and health professional. His experience includes multiple senior safety inspector positions at DWC and safety trainee, specialist, manager, and compliance administrator positions for the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran with over 10 years of service. He is certified as an Environmental and Safety Compliance Officer; Safety, Health, and Environmental Professional; Safety and Health Official; and Specialist in Safety and Health-General Industry and Construction.

Jaime Duran

Bilingual OSHA outreach training instructor for DWC, has 29 years of experience as an environmental and occupational safety and health professional. His health and safety background spans positions in management, training, and consultation in human resources, manufacturing, and foundry work in Texas and Mexico. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from the Technological Institute in Chihuahua.

David Gaines, CPM

Senior safety inspector for DWC, has 36 years of experience working as an environmental scientist for environmental consulting firms and as an independent consultant. He has also served as an industrial hygienist at a Department of Energy National Laboratory (Superconducting Super Collider) and as an occupational health and safety coordinator for Austin Water Utility. He holds degrees in occupational safety & health (AAS), public management/safety (BAAS), and technical communications (MA). He is a Certified Public Manager for the State of Texas.

Matthew Metcalf, ASHM

OSHA outreach training instructor for DWC, is a 24-year U.S. Army veteran with more than 18 years of experience as a safety and health professional. He has worked as a safety manager, trainer, and advisor at all levels in locations across the United States, South Korea, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University and has a certification as an Associate Safety and Health Manager.

Mario Quispe

Bilingual OSHA outreach training instructor for DWC, has 18 years of health, safety, and environmental experience in facility services, manufacturing, environmental consulting, and mining. He has worked as an HSE manager, trainer, and executive safety advisor in Peru and across the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Universidad Nacional del Centro del Peru, a master’s degree in environmental science from The University of Texas-San Antonio, and a second master’s degree in engineering system management from St. Mary’s University-San Antonio.

Dial R. Young, Jr.

OSHA outreach training instructor for DWC with 11 years of experience as an environmental, health, and safety professional. His background includes roles in safety training and regulatory compliance within the oil and gas industry across Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. Young holds numerous OSHA certifications, including those in general industry, excavation and soil mechanics, confined spaces, hazardous materials transportation, recordkeeping, and medic first aid/CPR, among others.
