Specialty: credit insurance
A specialty credit insurance license can be issued to retail distributor of goods, an automobile dealer, bank, state or federal savings and loan or credit union, finance company, production credit association, manufactured or mobile home retailer to sell:
- Credit life insurance.
- Credit accident and health insurance.
- Credit property insurance
- Credit involuntary unemployment insurance.
- Insurance that covers between the actual cash value of a motor vehicle used as a security for a loan or lease.
A person with this license can sell both individual and group credit insurance.
Apply for a license
Training
- You must complete training programs given by the insurance agency and the insurance company.
- A person with this license can train employees who will offer credit insurance to customers.
Fingerprint background check
A fingerprint background check is not needed for a credit insurance license.
Application: agent or agency
- If you want to apply for an agent license:
- Apply online by using Sircon. Review the following tutorials before starting the application process.
- The application fee is $50.
- A signed Appointment certification (Form FIN700) must be attached to the application.
- If you want to apply for an agency license:
- Apply online by using Sircon. Review the following tutorials before starting the application process.
- The application fee is $50.
- On the application, you must give information for:
- All executive officers, directors, or partners who administer the agency’s operations in Texas.
- All individuals and entities in control of the agency’s operations.
- A signed Appointment certification (Form FIN700) must be attached to the application.

Temporary license
A temporary license is not offered for a specialty credit insurance license.Emergency license
