Parking at the Barbara Jordan Building

DWC holds contested case hearings at the Barbara Jordan Building in the Capitol Complex, located at 1601 Congress Avenue.

If you are driving to your Austin hearing, you’ll need to plan for parking. There are a few on-street metered spaces near the building and DWC has arranged a limited number of free parking spots for visitors who have hearings. Here’s a video to help you with parking and entering the building.

News and highlights

Adopted rule on medical billing complaints

DWC has adopted amendments to 28 Texas Administrative Code Section 180.2, concerning filing a complaint. The amendments ensure that no health care provider or agent can use DWC’s complaint process to bypass the medical fee dispute resolution filing deadline in 28 TAC Section 133.307(c). The restriction does not apply to a health care provider submitting a complaint under Insurance Code Chapter 1305.

Preventative treatment claims handling

DWC has issued a memo reminding insurance carriers about rules associated with preventative treatment related to a physical injury and workers’ compensation claims handling.
