DWC releases insurance carrier PBO results

DWC has released the 2026 insurance carrier performance-based oversight results and a list of insurance carrier tier placements. Insurance carriers were assessed on their performance in five measures: timely payment of initial temporary income benefits, timely reporting of initial payment data to DWC, timely processing of requests for reconsideration of medical bills, and timely reporting of medical data to DWC via Texas Medical State Reporting Release 1.0. DWC regularly evaluates insurance carriers for compliance with Texas Labor Code Section 402.075.

Research group releases network report card

The Workers' Compensation Research and Evaluation Group released its biennial workers' compensation network report card. This report shows a comparison between networks and non-networks on a variety of measures, including health care costs, utilization of health care, employee satisfaction with care, employee access to care, and return-to-work rates. DWC finalizes Topical Analgesic Plan-Based Audit

On July 23, 2026, DWC pursued and received constructive input from workers' compensation system participants on the Topical Analgesic Plan-Based Audit. The plan-based audit was approved with edits based on the comments received.

DWC sets discount interest rate

DWC has determined that any interest rate or discount provided for in the Texas Labor Code will be set at 7.95%. The rate is effective October 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.
