Re:   Insurers and HMOs must update TDI contact information in documents

The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) adopted amendments to contact information found in Title 28, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 1 to reflect TDI's move to the Barbara Jordan State Office Building.

Under the amendments, health benefit plan issuers and insurance companies must update documents or information provided to consumers or the public that include TDI contact information, including contracts, policies, evidence of coverage, bonds, certificates of insurance, and notices delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in this state by the following deadlines.

  • July 1, 2023, for documents issued on or after July 1, 2023.
  • September 1, 2023, for documents printed before January 1, 2023, or for contracts, plans, or policies that are in effect but do not expire.

Insurers and HMOs should update and provide the Toll-Free Notice form in Section 1.601 and, if applicable, the Notice of Website form in Section 1.602 to policyholders by the deadlines outlined above and as required in the adoption order.
