Re:   ELIMINATION OF THE FIRE RECORD SYSTEM

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Pursuant to Board Order No. 60459 dated August 31, 1993, the State Board of Insurance approved the withdrawal of the application of the Texas Fire Record System.

The withdrawal of the Fire Record System began October 1, 1993, at which time the department ceased the calculation of fire record credits or penalties. On the 1994 Benchmark rate effective date, all credits and penalties were reduced by five percent (5%) and any zero percent fire record credits eliminated. On each subsequent benchmark rate effective date thereafter, all credits and penalties were reduced by an additional five percent (5%) and any zero percent fire record credits eliminated. Starting with the 1998 benchmark which is effective February 1, 1999, all fire record credits have been eliminated which completes the withdrawal of the Texas Fire Record System. Questions relating to Fire Record System should be addressed to Ike Williams, Assistant Chief Engineer at 512-322-2212.
