Four Seasons Earns Lone Star Safety Award

The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) recognized the Four Seasons Hotel Houston for its exemplary workplace safety program at its Lamar Street location on Friday, August 23, 2019. DWC Deputy Commissioner for Health and Safety Matt Zurek and DWC Director of Workplace Safety Chris D’Amura presented Four Seasons Director of Safety and Security Bryan Francis with the Lone Star Safety Award for its proven safety management systems and low incidence rates of work-related injuries and illnesses. The Four Seasons is the first hotel to receive the Lone Star Safety Award.

“The Four Seasons Hotel Houston has gone above and beyond in their efforts to create a strong safety culture for their employees and an unprecedented standard of safety for their industry,” Zurek said. “They have developed excellent procedures to help prevent and control hazards, and did a great job getting employees involved by encouraging them to report concerns and potential safety issues.”

The Four Seasons is a 5-star hotel, spa, restaurant, venue, and hospitality provider. The hotel also received the federal Voluntary Protection Program Star Award, a recognition by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for companies who have implemented effective safety programs resulting in injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for respective industries.

Lone Star Safety Award recipients must have a proven safety program with injury incidence rates below the national average for the last three years and no work-related fatalities within the prior 12 months. If you know a company with an excellent safety program, nominate it for the Lone Star Safety Award by visiting the DWC website at www.tdi.texas.gov/wc/safety/lonestarsfty.html or calling 800-252-7031, option 2.
