TDI notice for consumers with FedNat Insurance policies

Español

FedNat Insurance, a Florida property and casualty insurance company licensed in Texas, was ordered by a Florida court to liquidate its operations. All FedNat Insurance policies will be canceled October 27, 2022.

There are about 3,700 FedNat Insurance policyholders in Texas. If you have a policy with FedNat Insurance, you should contact your insurance agent as soon as possible to arrange for alternate coverage.

To help protect coastal insurance consumers who have policies with companies ending operations, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) issued an emergency rule earlier this year that removes certain barriers to getting wind and hail coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA).

About 1,000 FedNat Insurance policyholders live in either TWIA’s Designated Catastrophe Area or Harris County.
