Advisory 95-07

The Texas Workers' Compensation Commission has recently adopted new Chapter 166, Workers' Health and Safety, Accident Prevention Services rules. Among other things, these rules consolidate the previous Accident Prevention Services rules, update references to the Labor Code and revise elements of the rules pertaining to frequency and types of service insurance companies must provide to their policyholders. The statutory authority for the rules is effective September 1, 1995, and failure to comply with the new requirements may result in the issuance of a Notice of Administrative Violations.

In an effort to assist the transition to the new requirements, the Commission is offering three training sessions to explain changes in the rules, implementation plans and enforcement matters. The September and November sessions will follow Approved Professional Source seminars and will be free of change. The schedule of sessions is :

  • September 20, 1995 at 3:30 p.m. Clarion Hotel, 1241 W. Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, Texas, (214) 630-7000.
  • October 3, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. Texas Workers' Compensation Commission, 4000 South IH-35, Austin, Texas, Room 910, (512) 440-3668.
  • November 15, 1995 at 3:30 p.m. Wyndham Greenspoint, 12400 Greenspoint Dr., Houston, Texas, (713) 875-2222.

Interested parties are invited to attend. Sessions will last approximately one and one-half hours. Copies of the rules may be obtained by writing or calling: Publications, Texas Workers' Compensation Commission, 4000 South IH-35, M.S. 72, Austin, Texas 78704-7491, (512) 440-3618.

Please make reservations for training sessions and address any questions you may have to Bill DeCabooter in the Workers' Health and Safety Division at (512) 440-3668.

Signed September 1, 1995.
