Commissioner Mattax appoints three to Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association Board of Directors

AUSTIN – Insurance Commissioner David Mattax has appointed three members to serve on the board of directors of the Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association. The board oversees the association, which helps protect Texans if a title insurance company fails.

The new board members are:

Patti Bonner of Dripping Springs, senior vice president and agency services manager for Stewart Title Guaranty Company. Bonner has worked in the title insurance industry for more than 30 years and is president of the Texas Land Title Association. She has a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and master’s degree from Texas State University.

John Martin of El Paso, president of Lone Star Title Company of El Paso. Martin has been active in the title insurance industry for more than three decades. He is chair of the board for Alliant National Title Insurance Company and serves as the agent section vice chair for the Texas Land Title Association. He has a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University.

Christopher Williston, of Horseshoe Bay, president and chief operating officer of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas.  Williston has served as the association’s president since 1989 and has co-authored handbooks and publications for the Texas banking industry. Williston has a Certified Association Executive designation and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.  

The commissioner also reappointed Thomas Milton of Dallas to the board of directors.
