Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office Lending a Hand to Louisiana

Investigators from the Texas SFMO are sworn in by Lousiana State Fire Marshal The first group of investigators from the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office are sworn in by Louisiana State Fire Marshal H. "Butch" Browning, Jr. on Monday.

The Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office is sending teams to Louisiana in response to a request for help from a state recovering from severe flooding.

“We’re both Gulf Coast states subject to extreme weather,” said Texas State Fire Marshal Chris Connealy. “Unfortunately, fires don’t seem to care if responders and investigators are busy. We’re happy to help out our neighbor, and we know they’d do the same.”

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office has shifted some resources from fire investigation to relief efforts. As a result, Louisiana requested assistance from the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Texas will send 12 fire investigators to Louisiana over the next two weeks to help with origin and cause investigations.
