2016 Texas Safety Summit Call for Presenters

The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) is seeking presenters for its 20th Annual Safety and Health Conference, the Texas Safety Summit, which will be held August 8-10, 2016 in Austin. This conference is held in cooperation with the University of Texas at Arlington, Division for Enterprise Development Conference and Event Management (UT Arlington-CEM).

Presentations should improve knowledge and understanding of occupational safety and health issues that Texas employers face and provide attendees with practical information that they can implement  in their workplace to improve safety outcomes. The Texas Safety Summit will have four pre-conference sessions (three hours each) and approximately 25 one-hour breakout sessions over the course of the conference. Breakout session topics that require more than one hour to present may be scheduled as two-part sessions. Selected presenters will receive free admission to the Texas Safety Summit, including conference material and meals and refreshments. The deadline for submission is June 17, 2016.

General Guidelines

  • Multiple topics/presentations are welcome in the submissions process.
  • The presenter(s) must be a subject matter expert and knowledgeable about the topic(s) they submit.
  • The learning objectives must be clear and addressed within the presentation.
  • Once selected, presenters are expected to submit a copy of their presentations on the Texas Safety Summit template, as well as handouts, prior to the event. Presenters will be notified of the deadline to submit these items and given the template after they have been selected.
  • Presentations will be distributed to conference attendees and made available to the public on the TDI website.
  • Presentations must be factual in content and statistics should be up-to-date and cited. All copyright permissions must be in place before submitting.
  • Presenters are expected to exhibit a high level of professionalism.
  • Presenters are expected to begin and end their presentation on time, leaving adequate time during or after the sessions to answer questions.
  • Presenters must not include any overt solicitation on behalf of the individual, vendor, product, or commercial activity.
