Division of Workers’ Compensation Offers Educational Seminar for Medical Office Staff November 18th in Houston

AUSTIN, TX — The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) and the University of Houston (UH) Small Business Development Center offer an educational seminar, Texas Workers’ Compensation 101 for Medical Office Staff, at the Lone Star College-North Harris Student Services Building, 2700 W.W. Thorne Drive on November 18, 2015. The seminar will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with lunch provided. The registration fee is $99 online or $119 for walk-in registration.

The educational seminar provides practical information for medical office staff managing the administrative processes related to Texas workers’ compensation claims. The seminar includes presentations on the following six session topics:

  • Introduction to the Texas Workers’ Compensation System
  • Intake and Coverage Verification
  • Treating the Injured Employee: Treatment Guidelines, Preauthorization, and Utilization Review
  • Billing and Reimbursement: Medical Bill Processing and Fee Guidelines
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Assistance and Resources
