Division of Workers’ Compensation Offers Educational Seminar for Medical Office Staff July 23 in San Antonio

AUSTIN, TX — The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Small Business Development Center offer an educational seminar, Texas Workers’ Compensation 101 for Medical Office Staff, at the UTSA Downtown Campus, Durango Building, Room 2.316, 501 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. on Thursday, July 23, 2015. The seminar will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the registration fee is $50 with lunch provided.

The educational seminar provides practical information for medical office staff managing administrative processes related to Texas workers’ compensation claims. The seminar includes presentations on the following six session topics:

  • Introduction to the Texas Workers’ Compensation System
  • Intake and Coverage Verification
  • Treating the Injured Employee: Treatment Guidelines, Preauthorization, and Utilization Review
  • Billing and Reimbursement: Medical Bill Processing and Fee Guidelines
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Assistance and Resources
