Electronic resident Insurance application process

EXAMINATION:

NOTE: 

The application and license fees may be submitted either before or after taking the exam.
The application must be submitted within 12 months of passing the exam or 
 the exam must be retaken.
 If the application is submitted before taking the exam, the exam must be passed within one year or
 a new license application and fee must be submitted.

1.           Register and pay for your examination and schedule an appointment to take it.
               a.          Online: 
                            Register online at www.prometric.com/texas
                            Click on Schedule a test and follow the prompts.

               b.          By Phone:
                            You may register and schedule your examiniation by calling 866-267-0455
                            between 8am and 5pm (Central time), Monday through Friday.

               c.           By Fax or Mail:
                             You can register by fax or mail in two steps: (1) register and pay your examination
                             fee; and (2) schedule your examination appointment by phone.

2.             Prepare for the Examination:
                a.          You can view a complete outline specific to your examination online at 
                             www.prometric.com/texas.

      b.          List of Examination Preparation Course Providers located at
                   http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/licensing/agent/agfaq.html.

3.             Take the Examination:
                 a.          Bring the identification
with you to the testing center.  The identification document
                              must be government-issued, contain both current photo and your signature, have
                              a name that exactly matches the name used to register for the examination.
                  b.         Pass the exam.

 

FINGERPRINTING:

1.           Obtain your Fingerprint Receipt from L1 Enrollment Services or a Prometric test center 
               if you do not currently hold an Active Texas Insurance license or have not   
               previously submitted fingerprints to the State of Texas

 NOTE:  If you do not have the information found on your Fingerprint Receipt,  the submitted
 application will be rejected and the fee is non-refundable.  Obtain the information and then
 apply electronically for the Texas Resident License.

 SUBMITTING RESIDENT LICENSE APPLICATION:

1.            Refer to "Link to Electronic Application Process Tutorial" for detailed instructions / information.

2.            After you have completed your Electronic Texas Resident Application, you will see
               two pop ups, one contains information regarding Texas specific guidelines and the
               other is a pdf file containing a cover sheet as well as information for the applicant to 
               keep for their records. 

  NOTE:  If additional documentation is required, print and submit the cover sheet
  (First page of the pdf) along with all required documents to the Texas
  Department of Insurance
to complete your license application.

 3.          To go directly to the application, select Electronic Resident Application,  or the
              Texas landing page www.sircon.com/texas, select "Apply for a license" to submit a
              Resident license application.
