Current opportunity: Customer Service Representative (4 Positions)

Internal/External Posting – TDI Employees and General Public

The Customer Service Representative provides customer service to resident and non-resident agent and adjuster licensees.


This position:

  • answers incoming inquiries and analyzes/updates insurance licensing records within the agent licensing database (SIRCON-State Insurance Regulators Connection) while processing routine agent licensing filings;
  • furnishes or produces forms such as applications, appointment, and fingerprint forms, etc., and provide information with instructions and procedures for renewals and letters of certification for customers;
  • consults with insurance agents and company representatives on licensure and application status, including direction and follow-up for licensee/applicant actions;
  • provides guidance regarding licensing procedures, which could include researching rules and regulations; and
  • may assist in processing and issuing filings.

Qualifications

This position requires sixty college hours.  Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. 


Additionally, this position requires:

  • one year of experience in office practices and administrative procedures.

Preferences for this position include:

  • one and one half years’ of customer service experience working in a call center environment; and
  • one year experience providing technical information to consumers, insurance company representatives and agents.

This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:

  • agent licensing procedures, policies and processes;
  • insurance principles, practices, laws and statutes regarding insurance; and
  • business terminology, spelling, grammar, arithmetic, personal computers, and office practices and procedures.

This position requires demonstrated skill in:

  • Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook;
  • problem solving, decision making and planning; and
  • the use of automated equipment, including relational databases and tracking systems.

This position requires the demonstrated ability to:

  • comprehend and apply rules and statutes including the Texas Insurance Code, Texas Administrative Code and related laws;
  • draft clear and concise letters;
  • apply critical thinking to evaluate, analyze and interpret information;
  • analyze correspondence and filings to extract pertinent information;
  • communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and the general public;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, team members, co-workers, and the public;
  • represent the agency to licensee, consumers, insurance representatives, legislators and others in a professional and courteous manner; and
  • discern matters of a confidential nature.
