Current Opportunity: Windstorm Intake Specialist

The Windstorm Intake Specialist performs technical insurance work, data entry, and information assistance to customers regarding windstorm inspections.

This position:

  • enters, processes, issues, and determines revocation of windstorm certificates;
  • audits inspection documentation including applications, field forms, logs, acknowledgments, and certifications for accuracy and completeness;
  • electronically barcodes scanned files to be sent to the image indexer to be indexed to the application;
  • responds to inquiries from engineering firms, builders, contractors, industry representatives, and coworkers on windstorm inspection rules and procedures;
  • advises engineering firms, contractors, homeowners, lending institutions, and insurance agents of building requirements and other aspects of the windstorm program through answering a high volume of calls;
  • compiles and maintains records, and oversees maintenance of windstorm files; may prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports;
  • prepares correspondence and advises outside customers on windstorm matters including resolution of complaints; and
  • may monitor program activities to ensure compliance with orders and regulations.


This position requires thirty college hours.  Education and experience may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

Additionally, this position requires:

  • one year experience in technical insurance matters or in a field relative to assignment.

This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Oracle forms, Microsoft Office, and electronic email software.

This position requires demonstrated skill in:

  • establishing effective working relationships with consumers, team members, and industry representatives;
  • entering electronic data accurately and timely;
  • problem solving, decision making, and planning; and
  • managing multiple competing priorities.

This position requires the demonstrated ability to:

  • respond quickly and accurately to high volume telephone work;
  • perform a series of procedural steps;
  • select and transcribe data from several source documents accurately;
  • apply critical thinking to evaluate, analyze, and interpret information; and
  • interpret rules, regulations, and building codes.


A computer skills test will be administered during interview.
