Current Opportunity: Claims Administrative Support

Internal/External - TDI Employees and General Public

This position is responsible for information services provided to injured workers, employers and other participants in the workers’ compensation process.

This position:

  • answers walk-in and telephone customer’s questions;
  • provides preliminary information and general assistance in claims activities;
  • provides brochures and forms;
  • uses the agency’s internal computer system to verify and update claim information;
  • reviews and logs receipt of forms;
  • documents all customer contacts;
  • explains or provides information about rights, responsibilities and services and makes appropriate social service referrals to other agencies for injured workers;
  • referrers unresolved disputes after 24 hours to the appropriate parties;
  • assists with special projects; and
  • performs other duties as assigned.


Graduation from high school or equivalent.  College hours in course work relevant to required experience may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Additionally, this position:

  • requires eighteen months full-time experience in office practices and administrative procedures.

Preferences for this position include:

  • college-level course work in business administration or other field related to the assignment; and
  • bilingual in English and Spanish language skills.

This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:

  • office practices and administrative procedures;
  • inventory and requisitioning supplies; and
  • word processing/data entry.

This position requires demonstrated skill in:

  • use of automated equipment;
  • use of personal computer software such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel;
  • use of Oracle database;
  • use of correct grammar, punctuation and spelling; and
  • customer service.

This position requires the demonstrated ability to:

  • exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting departmental policies and procedures;
  • analyze documents, reports and correspondence;
  • make mathematical calculations;
  • enter and extract data from related tracking systems;
  • compose correspondence;
  • meet established deadlines;
  • communicate effectively with general public, co-workers and management, both verbally and in writing; and
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups.

Skills tests will be administered during interview.
