Current Opportunity: Program Specialist II

The Program Specialist performs technical and consultative duties for the Agent and Adjuster Licensing (AAL) Office in the Financial Regulation Division. This position involves managing vendor requirements, auditing and changing forms, generating and preparing reports, issuing requests for data services, providing technical and administrative support while providing quality customer service.


This position:

  • manages vendor requirements and coordinates with the Information Technology Division in support of the AAL Office and agency goals;
  • administers and maintains informational applications that support the departments needs by capturing and extracting information necessary to maintain audit performance measures, fiscal year end reports, internal reports, internal processes, and legislative report requirements, as required by the department;
  • develops, maintains, and revises Structured Query Language(SQL) and perform queries against the AAL Office’s databases (Access);
  • prepares administrative and or specialized reports and studies;
  • assist in developing policies and procedures; and
  • may assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in insurance, business administration, or management information systems. Education and experience may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.


Additionally, this position:

  • requires two years’ experience in technical insurance or in field relative to the assignment; and
  • prefers knowledge of license application processing procedures;


This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:

  • statues and rules governing title insurance;
  • public administration and management techniques;
  • statistical analysis processes;
  • budget processes;
  • research techniques;
  • training and marketing techniques; and
  • program management processes and techniques.

This position requires demonstrated skill in:

  • use of computer applications; such as, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and SQL;
  • communicating technical information professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and the general public;
  • problem solving, decision making, and planning; and
  • developing goals and objectives.

This position requires the demonstrated ability to:

  • apply critical thinking to comprehend complex regulatory rules and statutes to determine compliance or solve problems;
  • apply critical thinking to analyze and solve work problems;
  • exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting department policies and procedures;
  • establish goals and objectives;
  • organize and prioritize workload;
  • market programs;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, agency staff and general public; and
  • train others.
