Current Opportunity: Insurance Specialist II (2 Positions)

The Insurance Specialist in the Agent and Adjuster Licensing Office, performs insurance inspection or investigation work, including analysis of licensee continuing education compliance.


This position:

  • provides assistance regarding continuing education (CE) related questions posed by providers and the general public/ licensees;
  • provides administrative and support processing for continuing education automatic fine payments and appeals;
  • provides information to licensees regarding CE exemptions, extensions, and waiver appeals;
  • faxes, processes, and conducts document management for the administrative review (AR) section;
  • provides support processing for Licensing mailroom, open records, applications assignment and data management staff; and
  • performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This position requires sixty college hours.  Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. 


Additionally, this position:

  • requires one year experience in insurance work; and
  • prefers knowledge of license application processing procedures.


This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; and
  • office practices and administrative procedures.

This position requires demonstrated skill in:

  • problem solving, decision making and planning;
  • using standard office equipment; and
  • filing, maintaining accurate records and logs.

This position requires the demonstrated ability to:

  • communicate and work effectively with all levels of employees and the public;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with manager, team members, co-workers, and the public;
  • comprehend and apply rules and statutes including the Texas Insurance Code, Texas Administrative Code and related laws;
  • analyze correspondence and filings to extract pertinent information;
  • apply critical thinking to evaluate, analyze and interpret information; and
  • draft clear and concise letters.
