Texas State Planning Grant

Since the spring of 2001, the Texas Department of Insurance has participated in a Federally-funded State Planning Grant (SPG) program that was designed to help participating states develop strategies to significantly reduce their number of uninsured citizens. Under the terms of the grant, which was authorized by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Texas is to collect both qualitative and quantitative data through a variety of survey and research activities. The information gathered in the research phase is to be used to develop options for expanding health insurance to uninsured Texans. TDI submitted an interim SPG report to HRSA in September of 2004. This report, as well as information on the May 11, 2004 Statewide Uninsured Symposium and the 2004 Small Employer Health Insurance Survey, can be downloaded below.
