Abilene Fire Department provides free smoke alarm installation to homeowners that qualify.

Alice Fire Department has a smoke alarm program.

Amarillo Fire Department provides and installs smoke alarms.

Austin Fire Department offers a free smoke alarm to any Austin resident in need. The citizen must reside in a privately owned home. Austin FD also offers a Free Home Hazards Assessment performed after installing the smoke alarm.

Baytown Fire Department If you live in the city limits of Baytown and own a single family house – not rental property, and do not have a working smoke alarm, the department will install smoke alarms free of charge and check and install batteries.

Bedford Fire Department firefighters check smoke alarms for proper location and application, provide maintenance and test each alarm, replace out-of-date and non-working smoke alarms or add new smoke alarms, test and change batteries and educate occupants about the importance of working smoke alarms.

Bellaire Fire Department does not distribute or sell smoke alarms but will install privately purchased detectors for senior citizens.

Beverly Hills Fire Department offers free smoke alarm and installations for seniors 62 and older and disabled citizens.

Bexar County ESD #2 has a program to install smoke alarms, and can assist with battery replacement and installation of previously purchased alarms.

Corpus Christi Fire Department offers free smoke alarms for qualified home owners within the city limits who live in their home, and are living on a low income, are a senior citizen or are disabled.

Dallas Fire-Rescue has a smoke alarm program for owner occupied single-family and duplex residences.

Edinburg Fire Department installs fire smoke alarms in the homes of city residents who need them. Must be 65 years or older, be a homeowner or have low income.

El Paso Fire Department provides a free smoke alarm if you live within the city limits, are willing to let the department install the smoke alarm, currently do not have a smoke alarm in your home; you must be the homeowner.

Fort Worth Fire Department provides free smoke detectors to residents. They replace batteries or install a free smoke detector to anyone needing assistance.

Gainesville Fire Department You may qualify for a free smoke alarm(s) or battery replacement if you live within the city limits, own and occupy your home and are 1) Elderly 2) On a fixed income or 3) Handicapped. On-duty firefighters install the smoke alarms and batteries at no cost to the resident.

Galveston Fire Department provides a free smoke alarm, installation, and fire inspection upon request if you own your home, are 65 years of age or older, do not have a smoke alarm, one that's not working or one on every level of your home.

Garland Fire Department provides free smoke alarms for qualified residents.

Mansfield Fire Department assists qualified citizens with smoke alarm issues: 1. Persons who are elderly or disabled. 2. Free smoke alarms will be installed in the homes of persons who are financially unable to purchase smoke alarms. 3. Batteries will be changed in smoke alarms that are located no higher than 8 feet from the floor on walls or ceilings. If the smoke alarm cannot be reached with a six-foot ladder, Mansfield Fire Department is not able to provide assistance. 4. A limit of three smoke alarm batteries will be changed in each home.

Mid-County Volunteer Fire Department (Caldwell County) gives smoke alarm assistance on request.

Odessa Fire Department's smoke alarm program assists homeowners of Odessa and Ector County who do not have a working smoke alarm. A member of this department will install a working smoke alarm, at no charge to the owner.

Paris Fire Department provides and installs smoke alarms and batteries for residents in the City of Paris.

Plano Fire-Rescue assists qualified citizens with smoke alarm issues: 1. Persons who are elderly or disabled. 2. Free smoke alarms will be installed in the homes of persons who are financially unable to purchase smoke alarms. 3. Batteries will be changed in smoke alarms that are located no higher than 10 feet from the floor on walls or ceilings. If the smoke alarm cannot be reached with a six foot ladder, Plano Fire-Rescue is not able to provide assistance. 4. A limit of three smoke alarm batteries will be changed in each home.

Richardson Fire Department provides smoke alarms to elderly or handicapped citizens. Fire department personnel install the alarms.

San Antonio Fire Department offers free smoke alarms, including installation, to citizens living in single family homes in San Antonio.

San Marcos Fire Department offers free battery operated smoke alarms for residents living within the city limits. If you need help, SMFD can install new alarms and check your current ones.

Sansom Park Fire Department installs smoke detectors at no charge, but does not provide the smoke alarms.

Sherman provides free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to its citizens. The smoke and carbon monoxide alarms can be installed by an on-duty firefighter.

Sugar Land Fire Department provides and installs smoke alarms free of charge to any home (single family dwellings) within its fire jurisdiction.

Texas City Fire Department provides a free smoke alarm to city residents that cannot afford them. You must reside in the home, the smoke detector must be more then 10 years old, or the home currently does not have smoke detectors.

Tomball Fire Department provides and installs free smoke detectors to city residents.

Universal City Fire Department provides a free home smoke alarm inspection and replacement program: inspect your current alarms for proper installation and defects; replace (2) defective battery operated alarms or install new batteries (2) if needed; and conduct a courtesy fire/safety inspection of your home.

University Park Fire Department Free smoke alarms are available to all residents, especially the aged and individuals with disabilities.

Watauga Fire Department assists qualified citizens with smoke alarm issues: 1. Persons who are elderly or disabled. 2. Free smoke alarms will be installed in the homes of persons who are financially unable to purchase smoke alarms. 3. Batteries will be changed in smoke alarms that are located no higher than 10 feet from the floor on walls or ceilings. If the smoke alarm cannot be reached with a six foot ladder, Watauga FD will be unable to provide assistance. 4. A limit of three smoke alarm batteries will be changed in each home.
