Irving Convention Center
500 West Las Colinas Boulevard
Irving, TX  75039

More than 300 professionals from across the U.S. attended the first-ever TDI War on Hail Symposium in Irving. Texas Insurance Commissioner Eleanor Kitzman invited attendees and presenters to take a new look at hailstorms as the leading cause of homeowners' insured losses in the state. The program included discussions of the meteorology of severe storms as well as engineering research to build more storm resistant structures. Luncheon speaker Julie Rochman of the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety offered dramatic images of storm impacts on model homes erected for study purposes. In the afternoon, panelists Tim Marshall, P.E., and Fred Lohmann of the National Insurance Crime Bureau covered the credentialing of roofing contractors and the fight against insurance fraud. Exhibitors for the Symposium showcased products and services related to hail damage mitigation, weather technology and research.
